CENTERVILLE —
Jennifer Miller, of Seymour, gave birth to Jordy Miller on Friday, Sept. 28 at Ottumwa Regional Hospital, a close friend of Miller told the Daily Iowegian.
Erin Reed said within the first few hours doctors noticed Jordy's blood wasn’t clotting correctly and he was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals where the nurses and physicians found that Jordy was suffering from acute liver failure.
Jordy spent several days in Iowa City before he was sent to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, Ill.
If you would like to make a monetary donation to help Miller with expenses during her stay in Chicago or to help with the costs of his medical care, a fund has been set up at Iowa Trust and Savings Bank in Centerville. You can make your checks payable to "The Jordy Miller Benefit Fund."
Miller, who is a second grade teacher in the Seymour School District, has spent the majority of her adult life helping others through teaching, coaching and taking care of children as a foster parent, Reed said. She has been deeply touched with the love, support and prayers that everyone is giving her. She asks that everyone continues to keep Jordy in their prayers.
