CENTERVILLE —
The Centerville High School Drama department is presenting its spring play March 15-16 at 7:30 p.m. at Simon Estes Auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students in K-12. Doors opens at 7 p.m.
"We are going back to the main stage for this production just to change things up a bit this year," said director Kayleen Durley.
The night's entertainment line up includes two one act plays and some speech presenters.
"Since we hosted a contest this year, we were unable to do our traditional Dessert Theatre, so this will make up for that. We plan on a night packed with fun and laughs," said producer Laura DePrizio.
New this year, all 26 of the cast members have made a basket of goodies to purchase and take home. Brenda Royer is also making a special basket each night packed with her baked goods. Chances on this basket will be sold before the play and at intermission. Winners will be chosen each night at the end of the play.
This year's one acts center on a storybook theme, but are appropriate for all ages. “Once Upon a Wolf” by Steph DeFerie and “Goldilocks on Trial” by Ed Monk are both comedies centered around the storybook characters we loved growing up.
The storyline of “Once” is that the big bad wolf is tired of always being bad and wants to try out being the hero for once. The results are some really mixed up versions of the fairytales we thought we knew.
In “Goldilocks on Trial,” the storybook characters gather to see Goldi on trial for breaking and entering, among other things. The parts of Goldi and the three bears are double cast, so you get a different performance each night.
