CENTERVILLE —
Tonight the Centerville City Council during their regular meeting at City Hall will consider Kim Crego's retirement request.
Crego's first day as the Centerville city clerk was July 26, 2010. In November of 2010 Crego would take on the additional role of commissioner of municipal services.
Crego sent an email to city attorney Mike Craver dated Dec. 7 where she announced her retirement due to health reasons.
Craver made portions of Crego's retirement email public, which was published in the city council's agenda packet. Craver's email to acting city clerk Joyce Davis includes "excerpts from Kim's retirement email."
"Please consider this as my official retirement notice effective Dec. 16. It has been my honor to be able to assist the city with their vision. Unfortunately my health will not allow me to continue. I am certain the Council will take the city where it needs to go. Best wishes."
Crego's retirement letter is the second in two weeks the Centerville City Council will consider. The council at its Dec. 3 meeting considered Davis' retirement letter, made a motion to accept and seconded, but later withdrew that motion and tabled her request after department heads spoke about the city's need to keep Davis, city bookkeeper, as an employee.
The city council at its Dec. 3 meeting appointed Davis as temporary city clerk due to Crego's absence.
Other agenda items for tonight's meeting:
• The appointment of Debra Smith as cashier and customer service representative at City Hall.
• Set salaries for Ryan Moore, Centerville fire department firefighter and Smith. The resolution for council consideration, if approved, would pay Moore $14.974 per hour per union contract and Smith $14 per hour.
• Approve lead man pay for Joe Sivetts retroactive to March 1, 2012.
• Set City Hall office hours for the Christmas holiday.
• Set a time and place for a public hearing for acceptance of offer to purchase real estate by Chariton Valley Regional Housing Trust Fund. The property in question is lot 26 in Sunnyside Addition for $10.
CVRHTF plans to construct a new house at the site and adjoining property.
• Consider a resolution amending the city's employee handbook to include nine paid holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas.
