CENTERVILLE —
The Appanoose County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday, Dec. 17 and voted to set a budget amendment hearing for Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m. in the Appanoose County Courthouse Boardroom.
The county proposes for fiscal year ending June 30 to increase mental health, MR and DD expenditures by $1,202,000 and roads and transportation expenditures by $696,956.
The board voted 3-0 to approve a resolution to withdraw from the Southeastern Iowa Area Crime Commission Service Agency out of Fairfield effective June 30. The board entered into a joint agreement with SIACCSA on Dec. 8, 1972 for joint and cooperative action.
The board voted 3-0 to approve a project application for the authority's state cost share funds for Soap Creek Watershed repair.
The board voted 3-0 to approve the first reading of Appanoose County Ordinance No. 38: Readopting the existing county code and repealing certain portions deemed no longer necessary to the operation of the county. Iowa law requires county's ever five years to compile its code of ordinances.
The board voted 2-0 to waive the second and third reading of the ordinance. Supervisor Linda Rouse voted present.
These five items are repealed by Ordinance No. 38: No. 19 Local option sales and service tax-Plano and Mystic; No. 24 Appanoose county voting precincts; No. 25 Local option sales and service tax-Cincinnati, Exline, Moulton, Unionville; No. 28 Local option sales and service tax-Centerville, Moravia; and No. 29 Local option sales and service tax-Numa, Udell, Unicorporated.
While these items have been repealed, Appanoose County Auditor Linda Demry said others have been enacted to replace them.
The board voted 3-0 to approve the regional agreement as presented by Diane Buss, CPC.
The board voted 3-0 to approve a quarterly transfer of $175,027 from rural services to secondary road.
The board recessed until 11 a.m. When the meeting was called to order a discussion was held concerning the Rural Improvement Zone requested by Sundown Lake Homeowners Association. The board voted 3-0 to organize a committee with attorney Tom Anders employed to head up the committee and meet as needed and report to the Board of Supervisors after the first of the year. The committee will consist of John Probasco, Todd Hanson, Dan Furlin and representatives from the Moravia and Moulton-Udell school districts.
