Appanoose County All-Play holding radiothon at sports complex Saturday

CENTERVILLE — Appanoose County All-Play will be holding a radiothon at the Morgan E. Cline Family Sports Complex on Saturday to raise money for resurfacing of fields that have been damaged with extensive rain over the past few years, as well as general equipment and other expenses for the complex. The radiothon will be aired live on KCOG 99.7FM/1400AM from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Area residents are invited to tune in or come out to the Morgan E. Cline Sports Complex on Saturday. For those stopping by the complex, there will be several events taking place throughout the morning. These events includes: Michael Kauzlarich’s baseball pitching camp, a softball exhibition game as well as 50-50 drawings: $1 drop-in-the-bucket softball hit, a $1 soccer kick and a $1 archery bullseye contest.

The sports complex has been home to several events and team practices this summer. The Andy Lind 3D Archery Shoot was held at the complex, as well as several baseball camps hosted by Centerville native Michael Kauzlarich. The complex has also seen the Centerville Redettes soccer team, little league baseball teams and youth softball teams hold practices on the complex’s fields.

Appanoose County All-Play also started an adult softball league and hosted softball tournaments this past season.

The Morgan E. Cline Sports Complex celebrated its grand opening last September after receiving numerous donations to build the facility valued at over $1 million.

This week the Iowegian wants readers to think about President Barack Obama. Since Barack Obama was elected president, two significant things have occurred: The military repealed the "Dont' Ask, Don't Tell" policy allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve and just recently he publicly said he supports gay marriage. For some, these actions signal a shift away from God, morality and threatens national security. Others say it's about time people in same-sex relationships can wed and openly gay service members do not threaten national security. Now, depending on who you listen to, President Obama is the first "gay" president of the United States. Is that something to worry about? So, the question this week is, "President Barack Obama, the first "gay" president of the United States. Is it cause for concern?"

A. Yes it is.
B. No it is not.
C. Don't care.
D. Not sure.
