BLOOMFIELD —
The first Davis County Alzheimer’s Walk held June 10 at Mulberry Place Independent and Assisted Living was deemed a success.
“We are very pleased with the support received for the walk,” said Val Lubben, Davis County Alzheimer’s Walk organizer and Bloomfield Care Center marketing coordinator. “We will be sending the Alzheimer’s Association a check for $3,000. Thank you to everyone who supported the walk in some way.”
Approximately 80 people participated in the walk with 26 businesses or organizations supporting it as sponsors. “We are very grateful to everyone who contributed time or money to make this walk a success,” she added. “A special thanks to Ottumwa Radio for sponsoring our after-the-walk entertainment, country singer Jake McVey, and to Jake himself who was fun to work with and gave us a great concert.”
A silent auction held the day of the walk included 41 items for people to bid on.
“Thank you to everyone who donated an item or had the winning bid for an item at the Silent Auction,” Lubben said. “The auction collected over $600, which is included in the total amount being sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.”
“It was a great day due to the generosity of people willing to support the Davis County Alzheimer’s Walk,” she concluded.
