CENTERVILLE —
Do you know someone who has performed an extraordinary act of courage or dedicated countless hours to a special cause? The American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa is looking for common citizens, the unheralded and unselfish pillars of our community.
Nominations for the Heroes of the Heartland event in Des Moines are being taken now for this local recognition event. The Red Cross is depending on the public to nominate individuals that have performed an extraordinary act of courage or has put in countless hours to a special cause. “There are Heroes walking among us every day — the people who put others above themselves — and it is our pleasure to honor ordinary people for doing extraordinary things,” said Leslie Schaffer, regional executive of the American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa.
Nominations will be accepted now through March 1. Nominations may be mailed to the American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa office, 2116 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312, emailed to josh.nuss@redcross.org or faxed to (515) 244-8012 by midnight on March 8.
