Susan R. Howard

DES MOINES — Susan R. Howard, 50, passed away July 26, 2012 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street.

Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, July 30 at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Susan’s family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Susan Rae Howard, the daughter of Donald and Lorraine (Moore) Whitehead, was born Oct. 4, 1961 in Centerville. Following high school, she graduated from college in Colorado. Susan was employed by FedEx Freight.

Susan was a master gardener, enjoyed ceramics and loved sports.

Susan was preceded in death by her father; an infant sister, Betsy; and her grandparents.

Those left to remember Susan are her husband, Robert of Des Moines; daughter, Jessica Hall, 27; her sons, Jay, 31 and Lance, 27; mother, Lorraine of Indianola; her brother, Randy (Karen) Whitehead of Cedar Rapids; sister, Sally (Bob) Van Dorin of Indianola; and a niece and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
