Diana Lee Barger, 63, passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at VA Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at Iles Funeral Homes - Grandview Park Chapel in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Diana was born July 2, 1949 in Bloomington, Ill. Diana served in the US Navy from 1970 to 1973. She was a Chaplain’s Yeoman. While in the Navy, Diana met Donald Barger and they were married on Dec. 24, 1974. They moved to Des Moines in 1981. Diana worked as a radiology transcriptionist at the VA Medical Center for 14 years, retiring in 1997.
Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Barger; father, Earl J. Kirk; brother, Darrell Kirk; sister, Debbie Heddlesten; grandmother, Ersa Miller; and brother-in-law, Dale Barger.
Diana will be lovingly remembered by her children, Bobby (Mollie) Barger and Michelle (Earl) Barger-Ives; step- children, Donald Barger, Jr., Christopher Barger, Terri Barger, Bobbie Lynn Spoon and Randy (Chris) Barger; 43 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her mother, Atha “Franki” Morgan; and siblings, Michael (Julie) Morgan, Sam (Colleen) Morgan, Duane (Rose) Kirk, Mary (Troy) Stallings, Lori (Steve) Byrum, Trudy Morgan and Darcy Arnett.
Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Autism Speaks or MDA.
