CENTERVILLE —
William "Neal" Eddy, 83, of Centerville, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at the Continental Care Center in Seymour.
He was born the son of William A. and Maggie (Hughes) Eddy on July 13, 1929 in Centerville. He received his education in the Centerville Community Schools.
On Dec. 25, 1950 Neal was united in marriage to Barbara Cline in Centerville, at the First United Methodist Church. He served his country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone and received his honorable discharge on April 30, 1956. Neal farmed near Numa area for many years as well as being a truck driver. Eddy Trucking hauled livestock, grains and later, Kent Feed out of Seymour. He was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church and the American Legion in Seymour.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Neal was so proud of all of them. His quiet kindness and goodness were a precious gift to everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Clyde Eddy.
Neal is survived by: his wife, Barbara Eddy of Centerville; sons, William Patrick Eddy of Houston, Texas and Mark E. Eddy and his wife, Debbie of Centerville; a daughter, Rebecca McGuire and her husband, Jim of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren, Mallory and her husband Jake Downs of Centerville and Christopher Eddy of Davenport; one great-grandchild, Mason Downs of Centerville; brother-in-laws, Morgan Cline of New Jersey and Gary Cline of Centerville; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at the Cline Family Mausoleum in the Exline Cemetery in Exline, with Rev. Kay Singley officiating. Entombment will follow with full military honors by the American Legion from Seymour. Visitation will be held today from 2-8 p.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials can be made to the Continental Care Center Staff and left or mailed to the funeral home. The Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Centerville, Iowa has been entrusted with the services for the Eddy family and condolences can be sent at: schmidtfamilyfuneralhome.com.
