CENTERVILLE — Ricky Phipps, 45, of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at his home.

His body was cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the family, which may be left at or mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, P.O. Box. 125, 23548 Highway 5, Centerville, IA 53544.

This week the Iowegian wants readers to think about President Barack Obama. Since Barack Obama was elected president, two significant things have occurred: The military repealed the "Dont' Ask, Don't Tell" policy allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve and just recently he publicly said he supports gay marriage. For some, these actions signal a shift away from God, morality and threatens national security.
