MORAVIA —
Edward DeWayne “Butch” Robinson, 66, of Moravia, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Butch was born March 3, 1946 in Centerville to DeWayne and Edra Mae (Laws) Robinson. Butch graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1964.
On June 21, 1975 he married Barbara Ellen McBride. During Butch and Barb’s 38 wonderful years together his career in the Petrochemical Industry gave them the opportunity to travel throughout the world. In 1990 Butch and Barb moved back to Moravia and built a home on the family farm. He was actively involved in the community by serving as President of the School Board and various community organizations. He was a member of the Moravia Church of the Nazarene and was very active in the church’s functions. In 2006 Butch and Barb built Angel’s Smallmart where he loved to mingle and visit with all of their customers. In 2008 he had the opportunity to rejoin the Petrochemical Industry and share his expertise and knowledge.
Butch loved his family, especially the grandchildren and was very involved in their lives and sporting activities. This normally involved a lot of travel. But he loved every minute of it.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a brother, Craig Allen; and his mother and father-in-law.
Butch is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; three children, Malynda (Lynn) Lincoln of Bartlett, Neb., Angela (Bruce) Ellison of Centerville and Gregg (Ayrand) Robinson of Shenandoah; and six grandchildren, Mike Lincoln, Sara Lincoln, Jenna Lincoln, Ella Lincoln, Madeleine Robinson and Alexander Robinson. He is also survived by one brother, Don (Connie) Robinson of Moravia; and four sisters, Pam (Tary) Huff, Janice (Dave) McDonough, Bonnie (Jim Riley) Essary of Moravia and Tammy (Bill Heffron) Robinson of Exline. Butch is also survived by his brother-in-law, Fred (Janice) McBride of Moravia; and five sisters-in-law, Carla (Mark McMann) Cochran of Mystic, Peggy (Larry) Bird of Wisconsin, Becky (Bill) Underwood of Moravia, Susan (Mark) Long of Albia and Terri Buesing of Arkansas City. He also has many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends. Butch touched many lives and will be missed by all that knew him.
Celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Moravia Nazarene Church in Moravia. Fellowship and visitation will be held in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held.
A memorial has been established to the family and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 103 North John St., Moravia, Iowa, 52571.
