Edith Singley, 76, of Moulton, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 at the Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center in Ottumwa.
She was born the daughter of Lloyd and Lelia (Walker) Southern on Sept. 2, 1933 in West Grove. Edith graduated with the class of 1951 from Moulton Schools in Moulton.
On Sept. 9, 1951 she was united in marriage to Richard Singley at the Methodist Church in Moulton. Edith spent her life being a homemaker and was a member of the Moulton Christian Church.
Edith was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Robert Southern; and sister, Bette Cary.
She is survived by: her husband, Richard Singley of Moulton; sons, Doug Singley of Fairland, Ind. and Rick Singley of Bloomfield; daughters, Diana Anderson of Fairfield and Linda Horn of Moulton; brothers, Richard Southern of Moulton, Russell Southern of Newton, James Southern of Newton and Roy Southern of Rock Island, Ill.; sister, Beatrice French of Moravia; 11 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton with the Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Internment of ashes will be at a later date in the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday an hour before services at the funeral home.
