CENTERVILLE —
Lilamae R. McDanel, 85, of Centerville, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
She was born the daughter of David R. and Pearl (Lee) Risher on Nov. 26, 1927 in Mystic. She graduated from the Centerville Community High School in 1946.
On Dec. 25, 1946, Lilamae was united in marriage to William D. McDanel in Mystic. She was a member of Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville where she served as Deaconess, Past President of Christian Women's Fellowship, Trustee and a Board member for many years. She was a 60 year member of Irene Chapter No. 414 of the Order of Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron for three years. She also enjoyed being a Cub Scout Den Mother.
Lilamae was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Elma Hendon and Vesta Lloyd.
She is survived by: her husband, William "Bill" McDanel of Centerville; daughters, Crecia Faris and her husband, LeRoy of Centerville and Kim Hamilton of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; sons, Dean McDanel and his wife, Karen of New London, Allen McDanel and his wife, Romona of Blue Springs, Mo., Terry McDanel and his wife, Martha of West Des Moines and Paul McDanel and his wife, Colleen of Manchester, N.H.; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Celia Starchevich of Centerville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville with the Rev. Sara Galindo officiating. Burial will follow in the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held today from 2-8 p.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. and a Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Drake Avenue Christian Church or HCI Care Services and may be mailed or left at the funeral home.
