CENTERVILLE —
Mary Ann Bear, 82, of Centerville, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Mary Ann was born to Russell and Roxie Crawford in Unionville, Mo. on June 3, 1930. She received her education from Centerville High School graduating in 1949.
Mary Ann married Homer Bear on Dec. 18, 1949. The two lived in Seymour until 1961. They would live in the Russell/Chariton area from 1961 until 2000 where they would farm and own/operate Bear Trucking from 1965 to 1981. In 2000 the two retired to Centerville.
Mary Ann enjoyed collecting dolls, crocheting, talking with people, gardening, cooking, spending time with her church family and time spent with her family and friends.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Homer Bear, of Centerville; two sons, Mose Bear (Beverly) of Russell and Mike Bear (Jane) of Chariton; four grandchildren, Alex Bear (Kristy) of Russell, Doug Bear (Amy) of Ankeny, Josh Bear (Stephanie) of Derby, and Scott Bear (Jennifer) of Russell; two great-grandchildren, Domanic Bear and Dawsyn Bear both of Derby. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Crawford and a sister Dorothy Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Visitation will be two hours prior from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be given to the family which may be left at or mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, 23548 Highway 5, P.O. Box 125, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
