Edna Bennett

CENTERVILLE — Edna Bennett, 84, of Centerville, passed away Saturday evening, Oct. 13, 2012 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville where she had been for the last two years.

She was born to Eugene and Viva (Hurt) Ballard on April 19, 1928 in Centerville. She received her education from Centerville High School, graduating with the class of 1946. On Aug. 18, 1946 she was united in marriage to Paul Eugene Crow and had their six children together. Paul passed away on Oct. 31, 1974 and Edna later married Floyd Bennett on Nov. 10, 1977 in Centerville. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1996.

Edna loved to cook and enjoyed word search puzzles and reading her Bible. She was a member of Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville.

She is survived by five children; Connie Turnbow of Moulton, Nancy Bennett of Holt Summit, Mo., Doris (Larry) Proctor of Moravia, Dora (Jay) Peterson of Moulton and Terry Crow of Centerville; 17 grandchildren; 24  great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her two husbands; parents; a son, Larry Dean Crow; and two grandsons, Matthew Bennett and Kenneth (Eddie) Jones; and her six siblings, Paul Ballard, Juanita Pullen, Lester Ballard, Bonnie O’Donnell, Barbara Thomas and Genevieve Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lange’s. Burial will be in the Eaton Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa.

A memorial has been established to the Edna Bennett Memorial Fund and may be left or mailed to Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, 1900 South 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
