CENTERVILLE —
Donald Kaster, 79 of Centerville, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Donald was born on May 14, 1933 to Forrest and Ora (Richmond) Kaster at home in Moravia. He graduated from Moravia High School before enlisting in the United States Army on Nov. 3, 1953. Donald received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal while enlisted. He was honorably discharged from the Army on Oct. 31, 1961. Donald was the owner operator of Main Street Distributing and also worked for 32 years at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Don enjoyed being a little league coach and umpiring little league and IHSSA Softball games. He was a member of the Centerville Board of Education, a past president of the Lions Club, and attended Faith United Methodist church.
Don enjoyed music, singing as a member of the Centerville barber shop quartet, camping, racing, and spending time with his family.
Don is survived by his wife Marolyn Kaster; sons Tim (Faith) Kaster of Centerville; Rodney (Judy) Kaster of Albia; Rodger (Byranna) Kaster of Moulton; Jeff “Bo” (Cheryl) Kaster of Centerville; and Daughter Connie (Russ) Foster of Centerville; brother Dean Kaster of Moravia; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Larry Kaster.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at the Faith United Methodist Church, Centerville. Friends may call all day Thursday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, Centerville.
A memorial has been established to the Lions Club and Faith United Methodist Church and may be left or mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
