CENTERVILLE —
George Trenton Starr, 82, of Bloomfield, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after a brief illness.
He was born in Davis County, near Monterey, Iowa to Oscar and Linnie (Spurgeon) Starr on May 6, 1930. Trenton attended school at the one room school at Fabius Township and was graduated from Moulton High School in 1949.
Better known as Trenton, he lived his entire life, with the exception of two years in the US Army, on the farm where he was born. On June 6, 1951, Trenton was united in marriage to Joanne Crawford in Ellicott City, Maryland, where he was stationed before departing for Germany during the Korean War. He served as Company Clerk and Driver from 1951 to 1953. He and Joanne moved to the family farm when he returned from Germany. In addition to being a life-long farmer Trenton worked at John Deere in Ottumwa, Community Lumber in Moulton, the Moulton Locker and was a bus driver for Moulton-Udell School District for 26 years.
Trenton is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and Elmer Starr; two sisters, Frances (in infancy) and Lolita Jones; two sisters-in-law, Loeta (Gerald) Starr and Lois (Elmer) Starr; two brothers-in-law, Aubrey Jones (Lolita) and Donald Ryan (Beatrice); and one son-in-law, Fred Adair (Laurie).
He is survived by: his wife, Joanne Starr of Bloomfield, Iowa; four children, Laurie Adair of Penitas, Texas; Trenton Starr and his wife, Teresa, of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Lisa Starr Whalen and her husband, Shawn, of Carlisle; Terry Starr and his wife, Melissa, of Bloomfield; four grandsons; Brian Starr, Justin Starr and his fiancee' Autumn Salladay, Colby Starr and Caleb Whalen; two sisters, Beatrice Ryan of Bloomfield and Ilene Johnson of Ankeny; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will be held today from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
