UNIONVILLE, Ia. —
Donald Dwight Ellison, 85, of Unionville, Iowa died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa.
He was born Sept. 1, 1927 in Davis County to Walter C. and Alice M. Robb Ellison. He married Esthermae Stookesberry Feb. 10, 1957 in Bloomfield. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2010. Donald served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer and worked at Vesco in Unionville, Iowa.
He is survived by a son, Charles (Susan) Ellison of Eddyville; a daughter, Mary Kay (Dennis) Vanderheyden of Mystic; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Burkhalter of Unionville, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Mabel Ellison of Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Sheila Ellison; and three brothers, Harold, Carl and Claudie Ellison.
Graveside services with military rites performed by Wil-Rog-Mor Post No. 407 of the American Legion in Unionville will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31 at the Taylor Cemetery in Appanoose County with the Rev. Jesse Hill officiating. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2-4 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
