Charles Ralph Seibold Anderson (Si)

Charles Ralph Seibold Anderson (Si), 80, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Centerville, died Wednes­day, Jan. 2, 2008 at Health Park Medical Center in Ft. Myers, Fla., of natural causes.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1927 in Des Moines, the son of Charles Ralph Samuel Anderson and Della Hope Seibold Anderson.

He married Elmerine Lou Krohn (Ree) on June 26, 1949 in Lewis, Cass County.

Mr. Anderson grew up in Des Moines and in Danbury. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from the Uni­versity of Iowa Law School in 1950. After law school Mr. And­erson went into the private practice of law in Danbury from 1950 - 1956. He served as Mayor of Danbury from 1952-54 and was an officer of Farmers State Bank in Danbury before moving to Center­ville in 1956. After moving to Centerville Mr. Anderson worked as an attorney for Iowa Southern Utilities Co. and advanced to general counsel, to company vice president and secretary of the board of directors, and ultimately company president, CEO, and chairman of the board of directors. After Iowa Southern Utilities Company merged with Iowa Electric Company, Mr. Anderson retired in 1992 as CEO and chairman of the board of Iowa Electric Company. After he retired, he resided in Sanibel Island, Fla., with his wife Elmerine and spent summers at Okoboji. He currently resided in Fort Myers, Fla.

Active in the community, Mr. Anderson served 12 years on the Centerville School Board, was a member of Faith United Methodist Church of Fort Myers and was a member of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry.

Survivors include: his wife; two daughters Melissa (Steve) Wehrle of Center­ville, Luann (John) Maletta of West Des Moines; a son, Samuel (Amy) Anderson of Waterloo; and eight grandchildren, Drew Wehrle, Elizabeth (Nick) Deacon, Abigail (Matt) Hollenbeck, Kate and Nick Maletta, and Weston, Bryce and Julia Anderson.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and his two sisters, Carrie Jane Colbert and Catherine Jean Sheu­maker.

The National Cremation Society of Fort Myers is handling arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
