Hugh McClaskey

Hugh McClaskey, age 86 of Centerville, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.

Hugh was born July 9, 1921, the son of John Wesley and Ozona Forbes McClas­key in Chariton, Mo.

He married Audrey Orpha Ruggles on Jan. 17, 1942 in Unionville, Mo. Together, they began a lifelong journey that led to many memories for the McClaskey family. Hugh farmed for many years in Northern Missouri and Appanoose County before moving to Des Moines. He worked for and retired from the Des Moines school system.

He is survived by his wife Audrey and four children, Dwight McClaskey and his wife Judy of Des Moines, Melvin McClaskey and his wife Sharom of Arkansas, Linda Saylor and her husband Robert of Winterset and John McClaskey and his wife Sandy of Missouri. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren and a sister, Juanita Garr.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Ozona McClaskey; sisters, Eva McClaskey Mercer, Mildred McClaskey Oden and MaryLouise, infant, and another infant sibling.

Hugh was very much a family man. His wife, children, grandchildren andgreat-grandchildren will greatly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Hilltown Cemetery south east of Exline. Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, at the Thomas Lange Home all day with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the Golden Age Care Center and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa. Condol­ences may be left online at:
