Lester McCoy


Lester McCoy, 86 of Centerville passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Golden Age Care Center.

Lester was born in Centerville on Nov. 28, 1921 to Taylor and Iva (Swan) McCoy.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII. Lester was a farmer and a member of the Sharon Chapel Cemetery Association. He enjoyed hunting, reading western stories, farming and time spent with his family.

Lester is survived by six children; Laretta Seeley (Ed) of Centerville, Mitchel Mc­Coy (Patricia) of Jenks, Okla., Craig McCoy (Benita) of Centerville, Debbie Carter of Centerville, Dena Court­ney (Ed) of Galt, Mo., Dottie Abrahamson (Brian) of Des Moines, 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Craver of Exline, Ruth Benz of Centerville and Pearl Shana­han (Don) of Centerville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Eugene Taylor McCoy; and two sisters, Inez Banks and Irene Crow.

Visitation will be all day today, Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating. Interment with military rites will be in Sharon Chapel Cemetery.
