Eugene Frederick Smith, 85 of Centerville passed away Friday, February 8th at the Osceola Nursing & Rehab Center.
Eugene was born to Frederick Eugene and Bessie Mae (Floyd) Smith on December 9, 1922 in Meredosia, Illinois.
He married Barbara Jean Stone in 1953. He would later marry Betty Winder on October 18, 1972.
Eugene was self employed through his life as a handyman. He enjoyed playing all types of musical instruments, especially the guitar. He sang Christian music over the AM Radio when he lived in Illinois.
Eugene is survived by his wife Betty of Delhi, Iowa; two sons, Frederick Eugene Zenor (Jenni) of Kansas City, Mo., Ron Zenor (Norma) of Bloomington, Ind.; and twin daughters, Ruth Robb (Floyd) and Mary Smith, both of Centerville; 10 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Luecan and Francis Smith and two sisters; Mable Suratt and Helen Loren Messer.
There are no services planned at this time. Memorials may be given to the family which may be left at or mailed to Thomas Funeral Home 23548 Hwy 5 Centerville, IA 52544.
