MYSTIC —
Robert "Bob" Mitchell, 74, of Mystic, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville.
He was born the son of Frank and Lelah (Cosner) Mitchell on Feb. 26, 1938 in Centerville. He graduated from the Centerville High School in 1956.
On Feb. 11, 1957 Bob was united in marriage to Sandra Lemley in Miami, Okla. He was a farmer north of Plano, Iowa for more than 25 years. He always had time for a good book or cigar and could be seen driving his green truck with his side kick, "Izzy" his dog. He attended the Brushy Community Church north of Plano.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and a son, Brad Mitchell in 1978.
Bob is survived by: his wife, Sandra Mitchell of Mystic; sons, Robert "Bob" D. Mitchell and his wife, Peggy of Blackwell, Okla. and Brian Mitchell of Centerville; daughters, Brenda Hoffman of Moravia, Chanda Hornaday and her husband, Charlie of Oologah, Okla. and Anissa O'Hair and her husband, Tim of Caddo Mills, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with John Van Welden officiating. Burial will follow at the Concord Cemetery northwest of Mystic. Visitation will be held today from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to either the First Responders of Mystic, Iowa or Drake Public Library and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
