CENTERVILLE —
Billie Samuel Snider, son of Samuel and Myrtle (Stroud) Snider, was born Jan. 23, 1927 west of Seymour in Jackson Township. He departed this life on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2011 at the age of 84 years.
Bill attended many country schools and Seymour High School. In 1945, after his junior year of high school, he enlisted in the Navy. He served in the Pacific and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during WWII.
Bill was united in marriage to Marilyn Beaty in 1948 and they shared 63 loving years together. To this union four children were born: Ronald Wayne, David Allen, Martha Renee and Bonita Kay. Bill and Marilyn farmed for many years south and west of Seymour. Bill particularly enjoyed his cattle and sorting cattle with his sons, brothers and nephews were some of his memorable moments.
Bill was a member of the Seymour American Legion and past member of the Masons. He also served on the Wayne County ASCS Committee.
Those left to cherish Bill’s memories are his wife Marilyn and children Ronnie and Sharon of Cincinnati, David and Dotty of Seymour and Bonita and Dr. Joel Wells of Corydon; grandchildren Lori Snider, Kevin Snider, Kathie and Joe Sherrard, Ryan Snider and friend Emily Gibson, Andrea and Mike Riemenschneider, Gabe Wells and fiancé Caitlin McSweeny, Jocelyn and Matt Roe; step grandchildren Michele and Kevin Hersom and Brad Shipley; great grandchildren Trevor and Mallory Sherrard, Zachery Snider, Gracie and Ty Riemenschneider, and Harrison Roe; and step great-granddaughters Paige and Madison Hersom, Kayla Riemenschneider, and Savanna Gibson. Bill is also survived by brothers Miles and Alberta Snider and Bennie and Marilyn Snider and sisters-in-law Helen Snider and Donna Snider and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, daughter Martha Renee, infant twin brother Bobbie and brothers Milo and Harold.
The many “old time” stories, friendly card games and family pranks will be some of the treasured memories shared for years to come with Bill’s family.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at Randolph Funeral Home in Seymour. Officiating is pastor Gary Forsee. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour. Military rites performed by Seymour American Legion Post No. 180. Randolph Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
