Curtis/Curtice cousins gather for reunion

PROMISE CITY — There were approximately 37 in attendance at the 33rd annual Curtis/Curtice reunion which was held at the Promise City Community Center Sunday, June 24. Tim Curtis asked the blessing over the cooperative dinner.

Those in attendance who signed in were Jerry and Joan Galbreath, of Powersville, Mo.; Daryl and Megan Curl of Corydon; Terry, Darcie and Nathaniel Curtis of Ankeny; Gene Jr. Curtis of Lovilia; Rhonda Curl and Tabitha and Tyler DeFrieze of Moline, Ill.; Daniel Nichols and Kaedon Mckernan-Nichols of Clio; Carmela and Dan Casteel, Alesia, Marty, Carmela, Kalob, Micayla and Soren McDaniels, and Brenda Hubbard,  all of Centerville; Blake DeVore, Hannah and Hailey DeVore, Tim, Wanda and Tiffany Curtis, all of Seymour; and Brandon, Lacey and Addison DeVore and Gene Curtis and Sylvia of Jerome. Those from Promise City were Ethel Curtis, Lloyd Curtis and Larry and Elaine Recoy.

There was no business part of the reunion. Halie DeVore was given a picture frame and Wal-Mart gift card for being the youngest descendant present. Ethel Curtis was the oldest present at 90 years with a Wal-Mart gift card being presented. Ethel Curtis was also recognized for having the most immediate family in attendance with another Wal-Mart gift card being presented. Terry Curtis of Ankeny traveled the farthest distance receiving a gas gift card. All children present received a treat bag. Births noted were Bowen Landric Johnston Oct. 25, 2011, son of Melissa and Jason Johnston; Halie Ann DeVore Nov. 18, 2011, daughter of Blake DeVore and Dominique Carver; and Addison DeVore Sept. 21, 2011, daughter of Brandon and Lacey DeVore.

Officers will remain as Tim Curtis, president; Janice Bunnell, vice-president; and Rhonda Curl, secretary-treasurer for the 2013 Reunion which will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Promise City Community Center.
