Indian Hills student achieves special certification

OTTUMWA — Indian Hills Community College student, Kandee Rutledge of Ottumwa, recently earned the nationally-recognized Microsoft Office Specialist 2010 certification in Microsoft Word.

The Microsoft Office Specialist certification is a valuable credential that recognizes the skills needed to use the full features of Microsoft Word.

Rutledge is enrolled in the college’s Business Specialist-Office Management program.  She achieved the designation by completing a rigorous exam, where a timed series of Word applications are solved. In a competitive job market, students who can market this credential are certifying that they possess the skills needed by business and industry.

For more information about the Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams or for information about the Business Specialist Office Management program at Indian Hills, contact Professor Shirley Reid at (641) 683-5172 or at shirley.reid@indianhills.edu.

The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page. The Iowegian wants readers to think about the Internal Revenue Service scandal. Dick Polman in an editorial wrote "the IRS' targeting of small-fry conservative groups was not a conspiratorial socialist plot. It was knuckleheaded, ill-supervised bureaucratic ineptitude." So, the question of the week is, "Do you agree or disagree with Polman's analysis of the IRS scandal?"

A. Agree
B. Disagree
C. Not sure
