Purvis family reunion held
The descendents of Levi and Anna Purvis held their annual family reunion on Aug. 9 at the Best Western Motel meeting room in Chillicothe, Mo. a co-op dinner was enjoyed at noon. Clair Hickman gave the blessing.
There were relatives present from seven states. Those present from Colorado were Clair, Mary and Amy Hickman. Those present from Minnesota were Gregory and Shirley Tennant. Those present from Kansas were Gayle and Cheryl Brace, Marie Tennant, Stacie, Austin, Bailey and Bridget Wood. Those present from Ohio were Kurt Tennant. Those present from Missouri were Anna Mae Tennant, Beverly Litle, Linda Fields, Terry, Brittany and Danny Litle, Mike and Laura Tennant, Keith and Linda Litle, Donald and Paula Robinson, Carrie Akers, Brianne, Taylor, Isaiah, Wyatt and Nicole, Austin Robinson, Kyle and Stacey Robinson, Brandon Robinson, Sammy Smith, Joe and Corinne Riggs, Alexis and Geoffrey, Matt Taverner, Reba and Mike Hyde and Nikki and Aaron Stapleton. Those present from Iowa were Floyd and Maxine Purvis, Ferrell Purvis, Ione Purvis, Freeman and Mary Purvis, Florene Brown, Charlie Foster and Margaret Repp, Lyle Purvis, Dean and Reva Lain and Harold and Elavonne Wright.
This reunion began in September of 1960 and next year will celebrate the 50th year these relatives have been meeting.

Older Iowan Idol coming to the Iowa State Fair
The Iowa Family Caregiver Program is looking for contestants to participate in the Older Iowan Idol singing competition at the Iowa State Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 18. This round of entertainment is part of the special programming that will be offered during the Older Iowan Day at the fair.
