Udell alumni and guests gathered at the Drake Avenue Christian Church, with 40 in attendance. Udell’s first graduate was Willie Gorden in 1916. The last graduates, in 1959, were Ralph Clark, Linda (Coe) Halsey, Judy (Hofer) Martin, Donna (Koehler) Maurer and Lloyd Salladay. Four of the five attended the gathering and celebrated their 50th. Lloyd was absent.
Others in attendance were (1943) Opal (Miller) Hodges, (1946) Waldo (Tuff) King and Betty Richardson, Lawrence Powell, Elmer (Bud) and Bertha (Kirkland) Brown and son and daughter, Steve and Susie Brown, (1948) Beverly (Deahl) Brinegar, David and Marilyn Koehler, Mary Francis (Robertson) Blew and Bob Barker, (1951) Marjorie (Hinton) and Richard Hopkins, (1953) Ray and Ruth Howard, Delbert and Hope Engle. Larry (1953) and Jan Spurgeon wanted to be with the group, but health did not permit it. Larry’s sister, Barb, and husband brought Larry’s beautiful table, made in shop class under teacher Ervin Burton. A picture was taken with Ervin Burton standing beside the table. Another teacher in attendance was Bob Wells and wife Beverly.
