CENTERVILLE —
Step back into the old west for an unforgettable Vacation Bible School.
Moravia is going all out to reach children for God this year. The three churches in the community: Light of Life Church, Grace United Methodist and Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene are working together to bring cowboys and horses in for a week of Wild West Adventures in Christ.
The Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene is even building a rodeo arena behind their church. The community VBS will have daily western events during the week that will be sure to delight children of all ages.
Moravia Community Vacation Bible School will be Monday, June 4–Friday, June 8 and children ages 3 years-completed sixth grade, will meet at the Moravia Elementary School.
The school will provide a free breakfast every morning at 8 a.m. for all children. Buses will be leaving the school every day at 8:20 a.m. and again at 8:35 a.m. to take children to the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene, where there will be a Western Vacation Bible, titled: “Sonshine Ranch” with Evangelist S. Lee Homoki as “Cowboy Lee.”
Lee will demonstrate the tools of the cowboy trade: rope spinning and bull whips. Joining ”Cowboy Lee” will be his wife Darlene and cowboy Joel McGarvey and his wife Susan; together they will present a dynamic, never to be forgotten, Bible message for boys and girls of all ages.
“Cowboy Lee” is the son of “Nevada Steve” who was a champion Rodeo Cowboy, trick roper and bull whip artist. During the days of Lee’s youth, he traveled extensively with his father performing with the “White Horse Ranch Show,” “Cliff Gatewood’s Wild West Show” and various other theaters and clubs.
The community Vacation Bible will also have a BBQ on Friday, June 8 at 6 p.m. for all the families of the children that attended VBS. There will also be a grand finally event in the arena behind Moravia Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene.
Admission is free, and every day at noon the children will be bused back to the Moravia School for a free lunch. For more information about VBS or to preregister you can contact Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene: (641) 724-3649 or Sharon McDanel (641) 895-0326.
