Hope Pregnancy Center open house to be held on Saturday
Make plans to help us celebrate the open house for Hope Pregnancy Center on Saturday, Jan. 23. The open house hours will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. We are located at 118 N. 12th St. in Centerville. The center phone number is 856-2220. The open house is in conjunction with Sanctity of Human Life Month that is celebrated in January each year. Sunday, Jan. 24 is dedicated as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.
Twenty-seven years ago, the Christian Action Council Education and Ministries Fund, which is today known as Care Net, asked President Ronald Reagan to create a special day to focus on the intrinsic value of human life and the fundamental right to life, as recognized by the American founding fathers. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation establishing a National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Since 1983, the SOHLS proclamation has also been issued by Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.
The National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is held on the Sunday in January that falls closest to the day on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on Jan. 22, 1973.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

All choked up?
Last week I did what many people do in August, I was on vacation. Sitting in the stands at Wrigley Field on a perfect summer afternoon with my family, and a cool breeze blowing in off of Lake Michigan, I ate peanuts and pondered my fate.
