Big Reds 10-run rule Moravia

CENTERVILLE —  

The Centerville Big Reds beat the Moravia Mohawks with a walkoff double by Richard England that allowed the Reds to take a 10-run lead and end the game after five innings.
England recorded two doubles on the day while picking up three RBI and two runs. Zach Lockman went 2-3 from the plate while Michael Starcevich was 1-2. Starcevich and Lockman each had a double and two RBIs.
The two sides were tied after two innings at 1-1. Centerville, though, would pick up six runs in the third, one run in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to win the game 11-1.
The Big Reds recorded seven hits in the effort. Daniel Cisler improved his record to 3-2 from the mound with a six strikeout, two hit performance.
"With a tough week of games coming up it was good to [win] this first game of the week," Centerville head coach Bill Huisman said. "Daniel pitched a fine game. Zach Lockman, Michael Starcevich and Richard England came up big with the bats tonight."
Centerville traveled to Davis County for a varsity twinbill on Tuesday. They host Eddyville-Blakesburg in a conference finale varsity doubleheader tonight.
The Big Reds (19-11) close out the season against Ft. Madison at home on Friday and home against Pella on Tuesday.
Moravia ends the regular season 7-18. They begin district play on Tuesday in Bussey against Twin Cedars at 7 p.m.
