Freshmen Redettes fall in three straight games

The freshmen Redette’s basketball had a disappointing three-game loss streak against Eddyville-Blakesburg, Davis County and Melcher-Dallas.

In a close 35-33 loss to Davis County Lindsey Winkel earned 12 points, while Makenna Pershy scored nine and Makenzie Richmond got eight. Breanna Boyle and Mallory Craver each earned two points.

The Redettes also had a close match up with Eddyville-Blakesburg which ended in a 27-23 loss. Pershy earned eight points in the effort and Boyle earned six. Jessica Demry scored three points while Chelsey Bankson and Lauren Craver brought in two each and Richmond and M. Craver each scored one.

The Redettes also fell to Melcher-Dallas with a final score on 52-29. Both Winkel and Demry scored six in the effort and M. Craver and Pershy both racked up five points. Richmond finished with three points earned and Bankson and L. Craver each scored two points.

So, the question this week is, “Will it stay or will it go?” The United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. wants to close three Farm Service Agency offices in southern Iowa, which includes the FSA office in Centerville, and consolidate the operations in order to save money. Tuesday afternoon a meeting was held at Faith United Methodist Church to allow farmers and other producers who use the Centerville FSA office to make comments about the closing to John R. Whitaker, state executive director Iowa FSA. Many questioned if the meeting Tuesday was necessary because the decision had already been made.

A. Yes, because Washington will listen.
B. No, because the decision to close the Appanoose County FSA office has already been made.
