SEYMOUR —
The Seymour Warriors hope to build off a disappointing 0-9 season with new head coach Austin McCoy and experienced offensive and defensive lines.
Seymour lost five seniors over the break, however Trevor Banks does return as an assistant coach for the team.
They return Kalvin Walker, Cobi Norris, Clayton Merritt, Tell Heesch, Justin Brown, Jace Poole and Eric Lavely to their varsity roster. Other notables are Nolan McMurry, Colt Christianson, Anthony Furlin, Chet Clark, Luke Merritt, Nick Howell and Dalton Johnson.
While the Warriors have many of their offensive and defensive lineman returning, they will be reshaping players at some of their skill position on either side of the ball.
"Our players have bought into our new schemes on both sides of the ball and I am looking for them to be competing at a very high level each and every down this season," McCoy said. "They have a better understanding of the importance of playing each down like it's their last and to always keep battling out there even when times get tough this upcoming season. Staying healthy will also be extremely important if we want to be successful this upcoming season."
The Warriors open up the season on the road to Humeston with Mormon Trail on Aug. 17. They will then host Tri-County Aug. 24 before traveling to Mecher to take on district-favorites Melcher-Dallas on Aug. 31.
