Seymour boys come from behind to record second win of season

DIAGONAL — The Seymour Warrior boys basketball team was down by 12 at the half, but went to a full-court trap to force turnovers and eventually win the game 54-51 against Diagonal. Trevor Sherrard pulled down an offensive rebound and passed the ball to Trevor Banks, who hit a game-winning three pointer as time expired.

“Very pleased with the intensity change in the second half,” Seymour head boys basketball coach Paul Hinner said. “We talked at halftime about turning up the pressure on the defensive end, and the team responded.”

Banks ended the game with 22 points while Sherrard had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Banks and Sherrard both ended with five assists each.

Brody Eldridge also scored in double-digits with 11 points.

Seymour improves to 2-12 on the season. The Warriors lost to Moravia on Tuesday. They host Melcher-Dallas tomorrow.

This week the Iowegian wants readers to think about President Barack Obama. Since Barack Obama was elected president, two significant things have occurred: The military repealed the "Dont' Ask, Don't Tell" policy allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve and just recently he publicly said he supports gay marriage. For some, these actions signal a shift away from God, morality and threatens national security. Others say it's about time people in same-sex relationships can wed and openly gay service members do not threaten national security. Now, depending on who you listen to, President Obama is the first "gay" president of the United States. Is that something to worry about? So, the question this week is, "President Barack Obama, the first "gay" president of the United States. Is it cause for concern?"

A. Yes it is.
B. No it is not.
C. Don't care.
D. Not sure.
