The Moulton-Udell Lady Eagles defeated Seymour 11-0 in 4.5 innings of play on Friday.
Kaylee Stansberry was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts in four innings. Kadarenna Sales came in for the fifth inning with two strikeouts and allowed no hits.
“The kids did a nice job on a short turn round from our 14 inning game. We put the ball into play,” said Coach Jason Ogden.
Kaylee Stansberry and Madison Probasco were two-for-two at bat. Stansberry had a double and a home run while Probasco had a double.
Also getting singles were Sales, Alexis Kauzlarich, Mackenzie Clark, Jessica Scott and Whitney Hill.
On Saturday the Lady Eagles competed in a tournament. In the first game they were defeated by Belle Plaine 7-5 with Probasco taking the loss on the mound. Clark also pitched for M-U.
“We had a lot of mental errors that led to four runs. We have to stay in the game. We had our chances at the plate, but we couldn’t get the job done,” said Ogden.
Clark led at bat with three hits including a double while Scott had two hits with a double.
Also getting singles were Chelsey Harris, Sales, Kauzlarich, Stansberry (2) and Probasco (2).
The second game of the tournament the Lady Eagles defeated Van Buren 7-3.
Sales was the winning pitcher with one strikeout. Clark picked up the save on the mound with two strikeouts.
At bat Probasco was two-for-two while Stansberry, Harris and Kassi Guinn also had hits.
“We did a much better job in this game. We found ways to score runs by putting the ball in play and when we got runners we were able to move them around,” said Ogden.
The Lady Eagles were defeated by Pekin in the final game of the tournament 14-0 with Kauzlarich getting the only hit for M-U.
“Pekin hit the ball really well in this game. Sales did her job and threw strikes, they just hit the ball where we weren’t at. This game will help us for districts coming up,” said Ogden.
The Lady Eagles defeated Twin Cedars on Tuesday with a score of 6-3.
Clark was on the mound with 10 strikeouts.
Both teams were scoreless until the sixth inning when M-U scored two in the top and Twin Cedars had three in the bottom. The Lady Eagles came back with four runs in the seventh. “Clark’s no hit bid was broke up with one out in the sixth. That’s also when all four errors happened. Aside from the sixth we played good ball today,” said Ogden.
Clark had a triple and Sales and Stansberry each hit doubles.
Also getting hits were Probasco, Scott, Harris, Guinn and Hill.
“We have to continue to improve and work on things but if we can do that we could make a nice run in the post season,” said Ogden.
The Lady Eagles will be at home tonight.
